Welcome to the ATL Wake Scene.

All of you that have been reading all of the topics on the new Atlanta Cable Park up to this point are already aware of this, but George would like to show up at the City of Atlanta hearing with at least 5,000 signatures to reinforce the enthusiasm for a cable park in the area. For those of you that haven't been keeping up, here is a brief synopsis:
The Atlanta wakeboarding community has wanted a cable park for years. Right now the closest parks are in Orlando and Tampa, requiring metro Atlanta residents to travel 7 hours away to ride a cable. Mr. Obser is ready to change that. He already owns the rights to use a lake large enough to run two complete cable loops. He has the unanimous support of the numerous local retail and business enterprises, and overwhelming support from the numerous local residences and neighborhoods. A cable park looks to bring hundreds or thousands of visitors to the area daily, which will benifit the local businesses. The lake is currently a detention pond that is not maintained by any party other than Mr. Obser. The plans include building and maintaining a trail completely surrounding the lake, which will be open 100% for public use, thus benefitting the surrounding residential areas. This new plan will draw visitors to a new location and will create an appealing property for the entire community to enjoy, transforming it from the secluded, unattractive property that it currently is.
Just recently, this overall plan was submitted to the City of Atlanta for review. The initial response was overwhelmingly positive, however the current zoning of the property will not allow the cable park to be constructed. This leaves two options: either the City can issue a Special Use Permit for the current zoning or they can rezone the property to accommodate the new park. Both options require approval by the City of Atlanta.
This is where you--the future visitors to the new cable park--come in. Mr. Obser needs your help in showing the City of Atlanta the overwhelming support that a cable park has in this community. He would like to attend the forthcoming hearing with a list of at least 5,000 people who are eager to see a new cable park in Atlanta. Although predominately centered around community support, the benefits of this park will extend throughout the southeast. People will travel from neighboring states to enjoy the new park, increasing revenue across the board for the City and the local community. Furthermore, this new park will introduce a new sport to many children and adults alike who may have never had a chance to participate. I could go on, but as you can see, the benefits are endless to this community and to the City of Atlanta.
Please take a moment to sign this online petition that will be presented to the City of Atlanta. The ATLwake community is only a small portion of the people this will affect, so please send this petition to everyone you know who would be in support of the new cable park. Let's make this happen. Let's show the City of Atlanta that allowing this park to be built is in the community's best interest.

Again, please pass this on to anyone and everyone throughout Atlanta and the entire southeast that will support the cause.
Brandon
Edit: In case I wasn't clear above, this petition is not a requirement by the City of Atlanta. This is a proactive movement just to show the City how much support there is for a cable park.

It's not happening on the particluar lake site on the southwest side, but it will happen. Unless a cable has been ordered already, no cable park will go up in 2010 in Atlanta.
I'm working on other lake sites to build. I don't want to dig, and I don't want this to be built on a rural lake as I'm trying to bring watersports closer to the city and Metro Atlanta.
In the meantime, I'm getting a permit for the 2.0 system at our site. I will let everyone know how that goes...

Hey man 2.0 is better than nothing. I think that if ppl see that this a real need for the riders of the southeast it will happen. Keep up the hard work!
